Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro 2

Earlier in the week I mentioned how I downloaded a trial copy of Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro 2 in an attempt to "magically" salvage an image by converting to black and white.  While I ended up using a combination of Lightroom 3 and my trusty (but ancient) copy of Photoshop CS, it was more due to comfort and familiarity than lack of functionality in Silver Efex.  In fact, I've played with other trials in the Nik Software family and REALLY like the U Point technology for precise local adjustments.  I just may need to invest some time in these tools over the winter to determine if they have a home in our photography toolbox.

Do you use any of the Nik Software applications and if so, what's our impression?
